The arrest shows that the Cambodian Government is concerned
that victims of land disputes are becoming more organized
and creating networks in order to better advocate for their rights.
The ruling party fears that Mr. Sonando’s Association of Democratic
becoming the body by which people opposed to the
government will push for a change of leader.
The group is also educating people to voice their opinions and
protest against rights abuses committed by the local
authorities managed by the ruling party.
